The enterprise was founded as an investment project of corporation Polish "Krajowa Spolka Cukrowa" SA, a manufacturer that is in the top ten sugar producers in the European Union.

The company acquired in May 2011 a bankrupt sugar plant from the village of Cupcini, in the district of Edinet.

Since its inception, Moldova Zahar has been continuously developing: the quality has reached European standards, the share of sugar production on the market has reached 30% in 2015, and the plant from Cupcini has been modernized with more than 6 million euros.

It is important to note that the foreign investor prefers to involve local farmers and specialists for cooperation in sugar production process.
