On the eve of spring, the Pottery House (Casa Olarului) of Vasilii Gonciari in the village of Hodginesti, hosted a thematic master class for the representatives of strategic development partners who created a bell made of clay and decorated it with handmade Martisors. It was a unique experience for the foreign guests who learned about the art of pottery in rural areas, which is part of our country's tourist offer, focused on cultural and adventure tourism.

For many years, the Competitiveness Project in Moldova, funded by USAID, UK aid and the Swedish government, has supported the development of the tourist sector in Moldova by providing the necessary technical support for craftsmen who continue to create authentic products and to maintain local traditions.

At the end of the masterclass, the guests took a tour of the Pottery House, visited the traditional ceramics museum and guest rooms, and tried traditional local dishes.

The Pottery House was modernized with the support of the Competitiveness Project in Moldova, funded by USAID, UK aid and the Swedish government, which implements a comprehensive program for supporting local tourism with a focus on promoting traditions, rural life, gastronomy and wine. In recent years, with the support of this project, the House of Pottery opened a specially designed workshop where guests can learn how to make various pottery items, a hall for guests with 50 seats, where guests can try various traditional Moldovan dishes.

The Pottery House of Vasilii Goncicari is the first pottery complex in Moldova, its goal is to promote the art of traditional pottery through various workshops and thematic exhibitions. It also hosts the international fair “La Vatra Olarului Vasilii Gonciari”, which is part of the cultural and tourist program “The Tree of Life”.
