Conventional Values of Beauty Reflected in the Art of Moldovan Painter Constantin Botezat
According to Constantine Botezat the art in Romania is under Western influence, and is more abstract, while the Moldovan art is influenced by the Eastern culture and is more academic.
Moldovan artist Constantin Botezat , who is 19 years old, managed to present his artwork at various international exhibitions and is considered one of the most promising artists of the country. After he studeied at the Telenesti art school and at the Academy of Fine Arts "Igor Vieru" in Chisinau, Constantine is currently a first year student at the University of Art and Design in the Romanian city Cluj-Napoca.
In his short career, Constantine Botezat had the opportunity to participate in numerous exhibitions in the country and abroad. His paintings were presented in Chisinau, Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca, as well as in European countries such as Poland, Belgium and France. Since 2011, Constantine took part in numerous art competitions in Russia, Romania, Italy, Croatia and other countries of the world. One of the most important events for Constantine in recent years was Art Market Budapest 2015.
About education in the field of art
The artist told MadeinMD, that he had a strong passion for art since early age, when he was 8 years old. A great impact upon his development is due to his family who saw Constantine’s interest and ability for painting and encouraged him to continue his studies at the art school.
In Cluj, Constantine arrived a year ago, in order to get a higher education and a European diploma. So he became a student in one of the most beautiful cities of Romania. Cluj-Napoca is a town that motivates and provides additional conditions for work of development of a young artist.
Constantine says that studying in Romania opens new opportunities for the accumulation of knowledge and unique experience. The student years are the most memorable and tense in every man's life, therefore, in Cluj there is a number of interesting programs for students. Also, Romania is the most generous partner in the field of education for the Republic of Moldova and annually provides a significant number of scholarships for moldovan students.
Personal influences
Constantine says that for him all the artists represent an example, and there is something to learn from all of them. He was particularly impressed by masters such as Nicolae Grigorescu, Nicolae Vieru and Igor Tonitsa, while his favotite painitng style is the academic one. According to him, this trend contributes to the mapping of traditional and cold ideal of beauty and has a number of canonized rules, clearing the reality from what is new, from what grows and lives in it.
On the development and promotion of art in Moldova and Romania
Constantine says that there will always be art enthusiasts, who will be involved in this area. In Moldova, there are such funds as "Stati-Art", which invests in young art enthusiasts from the country and organizes international camps, auctions, art exhibitions to support the new generation of artists. In Romania, there are also a lot of funds that support this area, such as Voice of Art. Constantine also stressed the fact that people from Romania invest in the art of the Republic of Moldova, and more recently Prince Radu visited the Academy of Fine Arts "Igor Vieru", where he had the opportunity to see art and graphics students of the Academy and appreciated the hard work, skills and talent of these artists and their teachers, agreeing to provide this facility with his Patronage. Thus, the Academy "Igor Vieru" is the first institution in Moldova, which is under the High Patronage of Prince Radu of Romania.
Participation at the Art Market Budapest 2015
The exhibition took place in the period between November 13 and 16 and was one of the most important events in the life of Constantine. This international fair of art appeared in 2011 and represents a unique and interesting art event in Europe. The event presents the best picture from different artists of the world. Art Market Budapest 2015 aims to promote a new generation of artists and identity formation. This year, the event was attended by artists from 30 countries and reached an audience of over 25,000 visitors.
One of the participants of the event was IAGA (International Art Gallery Angels) from Cluj, which represents Constantin and through which he was able to portray some of his works.
Art Market Budapest 2015 is a great place for collectors, experts and art lovers from around the world. This international event is an important factor for the promotion of art and young talents at the international level.
Plans for the Future
For the future, Constantine has the goal to get a Master degree somewhere in the western europe and he plans to achieve this goal in the next 3 years. In addition, the artist will continue to participate in interesting projects and activities for youth. Also, when Constantine will have new series of paintings he would be happy to organize a new exhibition in Moldova. The artist recently returned from a camp in the art museum Astra, Sibiu, where he created several new works.
