Propaganda Café is a restaurant located in the center of Chisinau open to all, teenagers, youngsters and also older people. It is the place where people discuss, debate and listen to good music. Often this place is preferred by foreigners who visit our country, for the opportunity to enjoy European cuisine combined with the wide range of local wines offered here.
At Propaganda Café we have talked with the executive chef Mr. Alexei. Here are some details from the backstage of this restaurant’s menu.
If you were to make a recommendation from your cuisine, what would it be?
Positioned as a restaurant that focuses on meat dishes, I should mention Anti Stroganoff and Chateaubriand with spinach. Something more festive and special is goose thigh glazed in asian sauce and served with sauce of red wine and grapes.
Does your restaurant prepare something Moldovan?
Zeama as in most restaurants and stew with polenta. That's about it, but for Independence Day and Our Language Holiday, we have prepared special offers of mititei, grilled ribs and donuts. However, we are not strictly specialized on national dishes. There are such restaurants close to us and we're not trying to compete with them.
What kind of local products do you use?
The meat is local: pork, poultry, beef.
How do local products meet the needs of your menu?
About 70%, because some dishes are prepared only from imported products.
What do you think about the quality of Moldovan products?
Unstable, because we do not have a fixed standard in the production. Before, in Soviet times there were certain conditions, now, these are not respected and quality varies from very low to very high. That is why sometimes we have to choose foreign products.
Could you mention some domestic brands whose products you use?
Floreni, Rogob, Vita, Căsuța Mea, JLC.
Why don’t you have local juices on your menu?
Again, it is due to unstable quality, this is the only reason.
NB: The relaxing and intimate ambiance of this restaurant conquered us from the first sight.
