Andrew Rudoj, а first-year student of the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova, a young man that came from Ialoveni with an exact purpose – to become an entrepreneur. Even if he is just at the beginning, Andrew is confident about his business and believes that when you wish for something very badly, it comes true.
Your business is quite unusual for Moldova and attracts interest. Is that what you expected or Bean Bags is what you really like?
Yes, sure, comfortable and colorful – this is the way we want Because to be seen by our clients. I can’t say that bean bags are my personal hobby that became a business. It's rather a business which turned into a hobby. In fact, the Bean Bag is the first product released by Because, but next year we are planning to release several likewise attractive products.
When did you decide to start your business? And what were the risks involved?
I always wanted to be an entrepreneur. I try to minimize the risks, but I'm not afraid of taking them. However, before starting a business, you have to make sure the risks are justified and analyzed from every perspective. The hardest thing in business is to believe in your idea. I think, many give up at this point, but at the same time it's important to take criticism on board and listen to the opinions of other people.
Are there people willing to buy such an unusual accessory? Who is your customer?
Our clients are people willing to make their home, office or an event brighter and more colorful. Yes, this is a relatively new product for Moldova, and we are planning during the early years of our business to attract as many people as possible to the cozy bean bags from Because. We take part in many projects and social events to let potential customers to know about us. Our brand products receive only positive feedback that really motivates us to go on.
Did your initial expectations match the results? Better to say, how did your initial expectations differ from the reality you have plunged into during the setting up your business? Did it motivate or demotivate you?
Everything goes almost as we originally planned. We have plans for Because that we are implementing step by step. We realize that it will take some time. Investing effort and money is vital, but the business has to pass through more stages of growth. We are optimistic and highly motivated by people we work with and the customers interested in our products.
More and more people today – especially the young – want to start their own business. In your opinion, what are the reasons behind this trend in our society?
The easiest way to becoming a boss is to set up your own business. Unfortunately, the institutions of higher education do not provide all the required information, or the information is not presented in such a way as to motivate you to become an entrepreneur. We are lucky that there are entrepreneurship education organizations and projects where the process of setting up a business is explained in a clear and interesting way for the young. I think the causes are primarily opportunities that are everywhere, grants, training and a lot of information that is easily accessible on the Web or through organizations dealing with small business financing. At the same time, the young people can take risks easily, have new ideas, they are nimble and optimistic.
