Nata Albot is a moldovan journalist, blogger, producer, author of recipes book called "Moldova from my mother’s kitchen" and organizer of numerous events in the country. For the column "Points of View" Madein.md team made an interview with Mrs. Albot on local products, their quality and her personal preferences.
What is the last domestic product you bought?
Moldovan wine, a Rose from Comrat. It had 13% alcohol and was manufactured using natural grape sugar.
What Moldovan product would you recommend to a foreigner?
I would recommend a foreigner our dried fruits and, of course our fresh fruits, as well as the Moldovan honey and local festivals.
What are your favorite Moldovan foods or alimentary products?
I love dried fruits and I always buy dried plums and cherries. I also love Moldovan honey, which I take with me everywhere, including to Canada. Even if they have their own maple syrup, it cannot be compared to our honey. And also the food made by my mother - this is the best domestic product.
How would you rate the quality of local products like clothing or footwear compared to imported ones?
Our domestic products require a much better marketing. They are of good quality, but, unfortunately, they have a poor marketing or selling policies.
What Moldovan products have you seen during your visits in other countries?
Where I travelled, I saw Moldovan juices and several wines.
Do you see any changes or progress in the quality of Moldovan products in the recent years?
I see some changes with regard to the label and promotion. Also I see the changes in the sphere of bio and eco products: people are beginning to understand this new trend. In Moldova, I've also seen products such as mozzarella, which is not typical for our country, but is already being produced and has a pretty good quality.
What is your favorite Moldovan wines?
My favorites wines are from Gitana.
Are you familiar with the new local producers and Moldovan brands?
I follow all the news regarding Moldovan products, and by the way, thanks to Madein.md, I discovered many local fruits producers. What are you doing through campaign "Fruits Route" is just wonderful.
